Here are some observational sketches I did during the time I was in Melbourne. Unlike the time I was sketching in Cambridge, Melbournians are curiously uncurious about people sketching their environment. Not a single person paused to look at what I was doing. Not to say I minded it since I could concentrate on what I was doing.

It's been some time since I last posted. I have put my little girl character on hold, and working on something else at the moment. And here's a quick look. It's going towards an ABC book I'm developing.
Been playing with my lovely Prismacolor colour pencils and experimenting with colour combinations. You can see my process of recording the colours as I use them. As I have 72 colours, this helps me to remember which pencils produce the effect I want.
Currently working on my next character of a little girl: some sketches. Also playing around with my new Prismacolor colour pencils!
Currently working on my masters project... work in progress: trying out different "looks" for my cupid character.
Currently working with pastels again. I quite like working with pastels now. Here I'm just playing around with some subjects for the submission to the Bologna Children's Book Fair 2014.
This is a continuation of my observational drawing project. I decided to experiment with a bigger format using charcoal. I'm pretty pleased with the result. I think I'll try soft pastels next.

Right, I had painted a really simple picture with just brush and ink and I decided to scan it in and see what I can do with Photoshop. I have been learning a lot through lynda.com videos and thought maybe I could practice some of the techniques I learned (before they all go poof in a month's time). So this is the brush painting I started of with this:
I did these a few weeks ago, but just got around to scanning them in college after term started. Just playing around with black and white pencil images but with highlighted areas in watercolour to see how the effect will turn out.
These are some sketches I did of Mook's older sister, created at the same time as Mook. I think I prefer this version of the underwater sleigh, and I quite like the second sketch too.
I was walking around in Bologna a lot, and catching up with a friend, and busy snapping away with my camera, that I didn't have time to sketch a lot. And I think these were the only sketches worth showing!
These sketches were drawn over the weekend, after the snowfall left me in a very uplifted mood, and were also inspired by the songs "U" and "Marry Me" by Kim Hyun Joong. I'm thinking of perhaps developing these sketches further into a series.
